The Queen City Shepherdess – Augustus L. Jansson c. 1906

The Queen City Shepherdess is a 1906 graphic illustration by Augustus L. Jansson that bridges the gap between early industrial printing and modern minimalist design.
Originally commissioned by The Queen City Printing Ink Co., the work functions as a technical specimen for "Blue, 3049" and "Pink Tint, 3576". Its use of heavy, uniform linework and flat planes of saturated color prefigures the "Poster Style" that would define later graphic movements. This reproduction preserves the original technical inscriptions and registration marks, maintaining the historical integrity of the turn-of-the-century specimen.
