Digital Residency

The Future Archives

Stewardship for the Future Archive

IkonHaus stewards The Human Record—the intention and inquiry captured in works from the last 1000 years.

Today, that record is being written in new dimensions.

Much of our era's cultural literacy is encoded in digital and 3D spaces, yet a disparity has emerged: we are surrounded by fleeting social media artifacts about art, while the work itself lacks a meaningful way to be lived with. A "Reel" documents the process, but it cannot occupy a room. Without a bridge to the physical, contemporary work remains a transient spectacle—locked behind proprietary barriers and lost to the archives.

The Digital Residency is a selective technical partnership designed to restore Presence to the work of today. Through our highly considered artist selection process, we curate a 90-day showcase of a singular work, providing emerging creators with the same high-fidelity global WebAR infrastructure to bring their work into homes across the world.

As part of our commitment to the global arts community, IkonHaus provides this infrastructure as a fully-funded resource. By removing the technical barriers to high-fidelity display, we provide a tangible bridge to the physical world—transforming a transient file into a durable asset that can be placed, experienced, and lived with in modern spaces.

The program

This residency is a collaborative exchange. IkonHaus provides the technical "Bridge to the Physical" and archival documentation by extending our gallery platform, giving creators additional digital muscle to lead the conversation.

Artists possessing the fluency to navigate the digital landscape and the passion to drive their own narrative are best suited for consideration. Creators selected for the program provide the creative spark and engage directly with their audiences, while we provide the global infrastructure to manifest that work in the physical world. Together, we move the work out of the feed and into the home.
