Harmonic Structures – Unknown Artist (c. 18th Century)

Harmonic Structures originates from the 18th-century manuscript Sammlung geometrischer und perspectivischer, in Farben ausgeführter Zeichnungen (Cod. Guelf. 74.1 Aug. 2°), where geometry and perspective are treated as systems of knowledge rather than ornament.

An open skeletal cube is suspended in precise perspective above a compound arrangement of faceted solids, rendered with measured contrast and control. The composition privileges hierarchy, proportion, and alignment, allowing balance and structure to communicate spatial order without decorative excess.
